   Neuromuscular Re-Education

After injury, it is necessary to re-train the body in proprioception, balance, and coordinated movement.  It is likely that the body has adopted dysfunctional patterns of movement to negotiate muscular imbalances, damaged tissue, and pain.  Inefficient movement and incorrect posture are obstacles to injury recovery and can lead to further injuries.  With neuromuscular reeducation, physical therapists at PAPT will re-teach your body to negotiate space safely and correctly through hands-on work and active exercises.  This involves close instruction and an in depth understanding of the interchange between the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.

Examples of neuromuscular re-education include:

  • static and dynamic balance exercises
  • jump boards
  • Feldenkrais
  • proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation
  • Authentic Pilates

PAPT is also proud to offer techniques and approaches and hundreds of exercises that have been created by owner, Sean Gallagher, PT, whose methods are being taught throughout the world.
