PAPT's Free Rake Stage
Lecture and
Workshop
In 1996 Mr. Gallagher was
asked to develop the first injury prevention lecture for Broadway
companies, which is now a union (Equity) requirement for all shows
with raked stages. Mr Gallagher has given this lecture to over 30
Broadway shows as well as other touring companies and dance
companies. He provides this lecture as a community
service in New York City for no charge.
It was created to:
* educate performers about recognizing and managing overuse injuries before they
become chronic
* provide exercises from PAPT's comprehensive injury prevention program for general
body conditioning to prevent injuries
* provide specific exercises to counteract the adverse effects on the body caused by the
raked stage and the individual demands of the show
Mr. Gallagher also provides a general
injury prevention lecture for any performing environment and
continuously develops company programs that are specific
for the needs of any company or school.
