Technique and
Performance Evaluation/Analysis
The physical therapists at PAPT are able to utilize their years of experience in the performing arts and sports to give the dancer, musician, and athlete guidance in injury prevention. Technique and performance evaluation and analysis are valuable tools that can be used to prevent the recurrence of an injury and to prevent new ones from developing. Injuries commonly result from improper technique that can be both a cause and a consequence of physical imbalances. By evaluating technique, we will be able to observe structural and muscular weaknesses and postural deviations that may be preventing optimal performance or lead to future injury.
Dance
Evaluation - The physical therapists at PAPT have extensive experience in various dance techniques including ballet, jazz, modern, tap, and ballroom. Although technique evaluation can be done at the PAPT studio, it can also be helpful to have a physical therapist attend a rehearsal or performance. Costumes, stage sets, and partnering work can all contribute to the possibility of injuries. By watching you dance, our therapists will be able to observe problems with your technique that may be risks for injury.
Analysis - PAPT will give each patient an individualized and thorough analysis of technique with a plan of care to correct and highlight areas of potential risk. With the help of this analysis, you will have the tools to continue dancing safely and dynamically.
Music
Evaluation – If possible, bringing your instrument to the studio will give the physical therapists at PAPT the opportunity to evaluate your playing technique. With larger instruments, your physical therapist can attend a rehearsal or performance to allow a thorough evaluation of playing form and technique. With direct observation, we will be able to provide insight concerning movement or postures that may be precursors to future injuries.
Analysis - PAPT will give each patient an individualized and thorough analysis of technique with a plan of care to correct and highlight areas of potential risk.
Athletics
Evaluation – To properly heal from a current injury and to prevent new ones from occurring, it is important for your physical therapist to observe you playing your sport. Whether attending a practice or a game, the therapists at PAPT will be able to make a thorough evaluation of factors that may be contributing to a current injury and those that may be risks for future ones.
Analysis - PAPT will give each patient an individualized and thorough analysis of technique with a plan of care to correct and highlight areas of potential risk.
