Neurodynamic Mobilization
Radicular symptoms are sensations, including pain, that are felt along the distribution of a particular nerve. Sometimes these symptoms are created by tension, irritation, and adhesions. Chronic irritation and injury to the central nervous system, including the spinal cord, can also create neural scarring. These all can occur secondary to postural dysfunctions, direct trauma, extreme ranges of motion, and compression. In all cases, mobilization of the nervous tissue is needed for recovery. Through a series of neural tension tests, the therapists at PAPT can determine if neural mobilization is necessary. If deemed appropriate, passive and active movements are given to restore proper mechanics and resolve physiological changes that may have occurred in the tissue.
Conditions that may benefit include:
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- low back pain
- thoracic outlet syndrome
- sciatica
- nerve root disorders / Intervertebral disc disorders
- whiplash
- pain and restriction following immobilization, such as casting
- plantar fasciitis
