TriggerBallTM Massage

WHAT IS THE TRIGGER BALL?

The Trigger Ball is a 2 inch firm rubber ball designed to release trigger points (small tight bands of tissue in the muscle that cause pain at the site of the trigger point or that refer pain to nearby areas).  To release, trigger points require deep static continuous pressure for at least 3 minutes.  Place the ball in an area of tenderness on your body and then lean the ball against a wall.  Feet are away from the wall.  Roll the ball around by weight shifting your body to find the area of greatest tenderness.  Once found, lean your body weight into the wall and push your feet into the ground to increase the pressure of your body into the ball.  Hold this position for at least 3 minutes until the muscle releases; you should feel your body sink farther into the ball.  Using the ball against the wall may be more beneficial than lying on the ball on the ground because the body is usually less likely to grip the surrounding muscles.
