HERE'S WHAT PREVIOUS INTERNS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE AT PAPT

Shannon Munley, MPT - University of Scranton

Being a student at PAPT was probably one of the best choices I made for myself since choosing which University to attend. The therapists I studied with and the patients I learned from were challenging, exciting, and memorable. The manual skills I observed and practiced were skills that you only touch on in class, and yet here they are used each day. In the clinic, I was able to utilize Pilates equipment and exercises to help patients rehab themselves, and then in the green rooms or the mezzanine at the theaters, I learned to use my body to its greatest extent as a rehab tool.
PAPT is the perfect place for an injured performer, but also a perfect environment for a student PT with the passion and experience in the arts. I can't say enough!

Christine Peterson, DPT - Shenandoah University

Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into making my final clinical experience so rewarding. You have shown me a new way of looking at my patients and the profession of physical therapy as a whole. I know that being in your clinic has changed the therapist I was to becomeinto someone who will seek out knowledge on varied treatment approaches and use creativity to develop new plans for each patient.

I feel that some of the lessons you have taught me some therapist take 5 years to learn. With your help and knowledge I feel that I am ahead of the curve and can integrate more treatment approaches than some PT's coming from a typical out patient ortho clinical experience.

Jennifer Lau, PT - Hunter College

My affiliation at PAPT was, overall, an excellent experience. I learned an immeasurable amount from all the PTs at the clinic, including the other student (thanks, Erika!) and from every patient. I developed skills and insight from my affiliation at PAPT that I use today as a physica l therapist; skills that I could not have learned elsewhere.

Each PT at the clinic was generous and enthusiastic in sharing his/her knowledge and techniques, learned from years of experience. Many of these techniques are unique to PAPT, and I feel fortunate to have been able to learn them directly from the therapists who created them. Besides learning so much, I also just had a great time working alongside PT's who so obviously love their profession and constantly demonstrate a dedication and passion for physical therapy.

Anna Saunders, DPT -

Mentoring with Sean Gallagher was one of the best decisions that I could have made for myself and my education as a Physical Therapist. In the world of dance and performing arts, there is a particular need for physical therapy to understand the anatomical development and demands that take place within the body of a performing artist. As a former dancer himself, Sean is able to take physical therapy and the performing arts to a new level. He relates his knowledge as a dancer to the skills and education behind rehabilitation. He understands the human anatomy and demands of the performing artist from the inside out. He has taken his talent as a dancer with his body as his instrument, and has transposed it upon level of biomechanical understanding, where his art is now in the work he does with his patients. The work of Sean Gallagher is the work of a true artist, and is work that truly comes from his own creation.

After much research in physical therapy and the performing arts, Sean Gallagher’s clinic in New York was one of the only sites to offer the specifics of what it really means to combine performing arts and rehabilitation. With amazing physical therapists, its brilliant location in Times Square and the opportunity to work in one of America’s top performing arts scenes, it is for these reasons that would recommend a clinical placement at the Performing Arts Physical Therapy in New York City.
